February 2010 Edition

MoiSent to a WHOPPING 116 MEMBERS monthly (well, most of the time).  News As It Happens has 78 members.

IF YOU HAVE NEWS TO REPORT AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT IN OUR NEWSLETTER OR BLOG, EMAIL IT TO US.  WE ACCEPT NEWS THROUGH THE 3RD WEEK OF THE MONTH.  NEWS AS IT HAPPENS AND BLOG NEWS IS ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME.

The site stats are down quite a bit considering the time of year it is.  Normally, November through March are very busy.  The reason it's slow?  Our best guess is no inclement weather, no disastrous flooding and the list goes on.

It appears that summer and winter are normally the busy months for IndexWa.org OR when there is bad news to report.

The sad thing is that our advertisers suffer a bit when the site is slow.

Now by SLOW, we don't mean a 50% drop.  We have experienced close to a 20%-30% drop.

Things will pick up soon and once again the webmaster will be pulling hairs from his head (the few he has left).  I'm targeting the gray hairs though.

Trash Pick-Up Day

Readers of News As it Happens heard about this on Jan. 21.

In the event you have not browsed the bulletin board in town lately, the following notice has been posted.

Effective February 1, 2010, trash pick-up will change from Friday's to Monday's with recycle being picked up every other Monday.

Sultan Book & Bake Sale

The Sultan Friends of the Library Book and Bake Sale will be held on Feb. 6, 2010 from 08:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Sultan Library meeting room in Sultan.

This is a great benefit/charity sale.  All the money from this specific book sale will go towards college scholarships for local youth.

The sponsors thank you in advance for supporting the youth in the Sky Valley!

Earthquake Preparedness

Thanks to Bob Foster, our animal control officer, for the suggestion to post some earthquake preparedness information to the site.

A plethora of information (links and downloads) may now be found on the IndexWa.org blog here: http://indexwa.org/blog/earthquake-preparedness/

INTEGRITY
It is not what we eat, but what we digest that makes us strong; Not what we gain, but what we save that makes us rich; Not what we read, but what we remember that makes us learned; And not what we profess, but what we practice that gives us Integrity.
