Life in a small town is just that. Small. However, it has its
drawbacks but the pluses outweigh the drawbacks.
It's a 20+ mile drive to the nearest "big" town and 40+ miles to a town larger
than that.
My personal biggest complaint is the drive to the doctors office in Everett.
I go anywhere from 2-4 times a month and it's a pain in the rear. Try as I
might, if I have two appointments just days apart, we attempt to consolidate
them but one doctor has this day off, the other that day off. So instead
of 80 miles round trip, it turns in to 160 miles round trip over a two day
period.
The other drawback as of late is the noise. No, not the trains (you get
used to that), but the teenagers that have nothing to do while Mommy and Daddy
are at work. They blast their music and some time it gets under your skin.
They are teens and we have all been through it, but it amazes me that there is
no courtesy for your neighbors any longer. You can't go knock on a door
and say "please turn it down". That just does not work in today's society.
So you need to call the cops to get the people in compliance with noise
ordinance. It's a sad solution to what was once a simple "PLEASE",
especially in a small, neighborly town.
'Nuff of that. On to our short newsletter for July and have a SAFE 4th.
Remember, he who drinks a fifth on the fourth, may not come forth on the
fifth.
Council Meeting!
With the holiday falling on a Sunday (July 4th), most folks were thinking that
the monthly Town Council Meeting would not be held on the 5th, which would have
been the regular meeting day.
Whoa Nelly. Word has it that the meeting will in fact be held on Monday,
July 5th, 2010 at the regular meeting time of 7 pm.
Hope to see you there.
Special
Request
A visitor to our blog emailed us recently.
Samantha is looking for somebody by the name of John Hendrickson. He stems
from a large family and lived in Index or is living in Index. His age
would be 26-28 years old (her best guess).
Samantha just wanted to give a shout out to John
and wanted to see if he was still around.
If you or anybody you know should happen to know
his whereabouts, please reply to this newsletter.
We are cautious with information. We would
first contact John to see if he would like to talk to or email Samantha.
If he says no, case closed. On the other hand, if he said yes, we would
request his permission to email Samantha with his info or we can email
Samantha's info to him with her permission.
Special Thanks
A special thank you to our Post Master, Dana
Starfire for dropping off some photos that we have not yet posted to our blog.
News as it happens subscribers will be notified
shortly after we do post.
The photos are of a few gentlemen who are running
from New York (I'd run from there too). They started on April 18th and
plan to be back in New York by August 17th.
They had started in Fremont on June 28th and made
a pit stop in the Town of Index and then off to Leavenworth for an overnight
stay.
You can track their progress at:
