Sorry folks!  It has been a VERY BUSY month for us and we have posted very little to the blog and did not even find the time to write a decent newsletter.

Besides, there was not a whole lot to report.  When things happen in small towns, they happen rapidly and in succession, which was not the case this month.

Oh yeah, the doctors have changed my medications around and it has caused me some problems that prevented me from seriously sitting down to type.  Another week or so and I should be "with it" once again.

Puget Park Drive-In!

From the Everett Herald comes this story:

This is a sad situation.  Even though our last trip to the Drive-In was with our now married children when E.T. was showing (a double feature as a matter of fact), it’s sad to see it go.  It was an Everett Icon.  (Ed)

Demolition of Puget Park Drive-In, Snohomish County's last drive-in theater, began this week with crews tearing down its red-and-blue concession stand. The property, which borders I-5 in south Everett, will make way for a stand-alone emergency medical facility operated by Seattle-based Swedish Health Services. The three-story building is expected to open early next year and will also house medical offices.

The Bush House

It appears (and we use APPEARS lightly) that the Bush House just may get fixed up and reopened.

In an effort by Jimmy Taranto, the Corson family and Loyal Nordstrom the restaurant will reopen and a meeting place that is non-profit will be established also.

Say what you may, dislike me if you will, unsubscribe if you must BUT personally,  Nordstrom has no interest in doing anything as far as I am concerned.  Otherwise she would have fixed the Bush House long ago.  For her, it's just an investment and she could care less if it fell apart, which is obvious from the state of the poor building.  I truly wonder when is the last time she was even in Index to see the building.  I am sure the town had to send Guido to her home to collect the back taxes on the Bush House at some point in time.  She does not care one iota about the people of this town.  The bottom line for her is "the bottom line".

Hopefully Tarant and the Corson's can get things fixed up and make the town proud and also make a few bucks on the investment.  The Corson's DO CARE and as of yet, we have not met Tarant but we do feel the Corson's would not do business with somebody they did not feel good about.

40 lashes to Loyal Nordstrom for allowing the Bush House to fall apart.

I am now stepping down from my soapbox.

Highway 2 Slowin' Down

We read about and it's already happened.

Yesterday, 05.27.10, we drove to Everett.  Upon our return WADOT was putting up the signs.

As you leave Startup heading East the speed limit is now 35 MPH all the way to Pickle Farm Road.  Shortly after that, the speed limit is 50 MPH until just past Zeke's where it then changes to 60 MPH.

From our understanding, the speed limit will be: From Gold Bar to Sultan, 35 MPH.

I guess it's better than more lights being put up and it's better for the "outsiders" who THINK they know the road.

Don't you just love the Gold Bar "pull out in front of you and do 25 MPH" people?  Now it won't be so aggravating.
