May 2010 Edition

MoiSent to a WHOPPING 124 subscribers monthly.  News As It Happens has 84 subscribers.

IF YOU HAVE NEWS TO REPORT AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT IN OUR NEWSLETTER OR on our BLOG, EMAIL IT TO US.  WE ACCEPT NEWS THROUGH THE 3RD WEEK OF THE MONTH.  NEWS AS IT HAPPENS AND BLOG NEWS IS ACCEPTED AT ANY TIME.

PLEASE PUT US IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK (WHITE LIST) AND ALLOW US THROUGH YOUR SP*%*M FILTER (INDEXWA.ORG).  WE HAVE HAD TO DELETE A FEW SUBSCRIBERS LATELY BECAUSE OF BOUNCES.  WE WON'T DELETE YOU IMMEDIATELY, BUT AFTER SEVERAL BOUNCES WE ARE FORCED TO.

If you recall, in the April newsletter, I could not remember the name of the town that gets the most rain?  Reader Thom L. was quick to point out:

"I believe that the town in Washington State with the most rain is Forks, over on the Olympic Peninsula, however for what it is worth, I have been known to be wrong in my life."

That was the answer we were looking for.  Thanks Thom for your quick response and correction AND thanks to all those that responded with the correct city/town.  Thom happened to be the first.

Thank You!

A HUGE thank you to Bob F. and Butch Z. for their generous donation to the People's Website!

We used the money for some updates that were badly needed.  We even had 3 bucks leftover.

It takes people like you to make people like us.

Council Meetings

Do you attend the Town Council Meetings on the 1st Monday of each month (unless otherwise posted).

The meetings are well organized and well  controlled (people to tend to get out of hand at times).  If you are a local and want your voice heard or want to know what's up and coming in the near future, your attendance is critical.

Let your voice be heard.  It's YOUR TOWN.

We hope to see you there.

Events Calendar

Hey you!  Yeah, you.  If you have an event that you would like posted on our calendar of events on the site, send us an email.  If you have an event posted already and it is not correct, let us know too.

If you have a recurring event, please state so.  We will list almost anything except open house (for sale) and items of that nature.  We will do garage sales for town locals only.

On a side note, we are working on a self maintained calendar that you can post your events without our intervention (they will go through an approval stage to avoid overlapping events and sp*m).

We'll let you know when it's up and running.

Again, let us know if you have an event to post.  Give us the details and we'll take care of the rest for the time being.

Why Donate?

We always need funding for the site.  The expenses can be high at times, but we won't go into that here.

We have posted a page on the IndexWa Blog explaining the best we could.  We detest begging.

Please read the page Why Donate? or copy and paste this into your browser window:

Photos Anyone?

If you happen to have any photos from in or around Index and you would like to have them on the site or on the blog, please feel free to send them.  Keep them at least under 1 meg.  Send them to:
ed.boress@gmail.com .  DO NOT SEND THEM TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS ON THIS NEWSLETTER.

Please don't send us your family trips family gatherings.  Well, trips and gatherings will be fine, but no photos with people/family in them.  Also, do not send your photos as inline attachments.  Send them as attachments only.

We will size them down for you to a manageable viewing size to place on the site.  Include your name if you wish, and we will give you credit.  (First Name and initial of Last Name will suffice, unless you want your full name posted).  We will not post your email addresses.

The photos will be watermarked with IndexWa.org and may be altered by us for esthetic reasons.  We'll make you look good!

We know a lot of photos exist out there, so get on it.  If your photo(s) are chosen, you will be notified.  No prizes will be awarded, just recognition and kudos for the world to see.

A Site to See:

We will probably be doing away with A Site To See in the near future.  We don't even get a thank you from the other sites and we send them traffic.

No site to see this month.  If you wish us to continue with this section of the newsletter, drop us an email.
